Grocery Shopping Made Easy

Hey There Mommas!

This week I wanted to address something that I am PASSIONATE about. Grocery shopping. Anyone hate it with a passion like me?

I kid, I don’t hate it… my children do, and that makes it miserable for me. If on the rare occasion I would get to go alone, it’s like a freakin’ vacation!

The season of motherhood also impacts how smoothly grocery shopping can go, and I have an almost 2 year old and 4 year old. Maybe, just maybe, when they get older, they will be more help at the store than they are currently.

The 4 year old is running rampid, the almost 2 year old is pitching anything she can reach out of the cart, and onto the floor. Sound fun, huh? Lol

I know I will look back on these times and miss them… but for now. I’m NEVER grocery shopping again!

Here’s How:

Grocery pick up! (or what I like to call… grocery shopping made easy)

Some people may live in an area where grocery delivery is even available, and I do like having meal delivery service such as Home Chef on occasion… check out my review on that here.

But in my rural-area-neck-of-the-woods, grocery pick up has just become a thing, a glorious, life changing… grocery shopping hack that I cannot stop recommending to  everyone.

It also saves time. Bonus! Maybe I will get to that bubble bath tonight? LOL Fingers crossed 🙂

AND it can save you money because there won’t be the impulse buying, or the kids throwing things they want in the cart without you realizing it.

One Con that I want to throw out there is the fact that I can’t use coupons or Ibotta (yet).

Ibotta is an app that can help you get rebates on things you buy at particular stores. Here is my referral link if you would like to check it out.

Here are the two grocery services available in my area:

  1. Walmart: Grocery Pick-up ( I use weekly) Get $10 off by using my referral link HERE

  2. Fred Meyer: Click List

Pros: Sometimes same day service is available, great prices, and an easy to use app

Cons: Produce quality is not the greatest, and farther away from my house

Fred Meyer

Pros: Closest to my house, better quality in some items such as meat and produce, and gas rewards

Cons: Higher prices on some things, and no app

That is my 2 cents on each of these grocery service options. Either one you choose will make grocery shopping so. Much. Easier. Check them out, and let me know what you think!

I would love to hear about your experience with grocery pick up or delivery, so feel free to leave me a comment below 🙂

With Love,

Quick & Easy Dinners that are Perfect for Summer

Quick & Easy Dinners that are Perfect for Summer

If you are looking for ways to make meal time more efficient with the kiddos home for summer then look no further! We made steak and fish tacos with fresh ingredients shipped to our front door, and I am hooked!

Quick & Easy Dinners that are PERFECT for summer from Home Chef!

**A big thank you to Mavenx and Home Chef for sponsoring this post. All opinions and ideas are 100% my own. See my full disclosure here.**

Quick & Easy Dinners that are Perfect for Summer

Hey Mommas!

Summer break is here for some of you, and right around the corner for the rest of us! Can I get a woohoo!?

We have a sort of laid back summer that I hope to jam pack with fun activities, short trips, and lazy days. LOTS of lazy days.

That’s what summer is all about right?

The LAST thing I want to worry about is what to make for dinner every night… especially when it is hot, and nothing sounds good.

So… I tried Home Chef to see what all the hype is about, and give my readers a full review!

AND here is the best part… I have a promo code for you at the end of this post so that you can try Home Chef too!

If you are like me, and have been living under a rock LOL let me tell you what Home Chef service is all about.

You sign up, add your food preferences/allergies, and they select meals that they think you might like.

Home Chef labels and packaging for two different meals in the same box

Don’t let that scare you though because you can switch them out! We picked the steak, and fish tacos. They are labeled and packaged (see picture above), so that you know what ingredients go with what meal.

You can’t mess it up… even in a hurry! 🙂

A confirmation email will show you the meals, and a link to replace them with different ones by a certain date (before your box ships).

Home Chef Fish Tacos

The box was delivered to my house by Fedex right around lunch time. It was insulated with ice packs, and a divider between the meat and other ingredients along with a cute little white binder to keep your recipe cards!

The divider with the meat at the bottom of the box

This is how they pack all of the fresh yumminess into the box

The recipe cards have pictures, and LOTS of instructions for those of us who are cooking impaired. I make very simple meals, but the recipes were so thorough that even I could do them.

A friend of mine said to look over the recipe card before I started, (Like Home Chef also recommends) and that helped.

Home Chef recipe cards that you put into your binder that is included

Let me tell you that both of these meals were waaaaaay easier to make than I thought, and they are good size portions. We got the meals for 2 people, and had left overs. I could only eat 2 of the fish tacos, and there were enough for each of us to have 3!

Now for the good part… Thanks to Home Chef… I get to offer you $30 off of your first purchase if you use my link (Click here) or use Promo Code:  MOMLIFE

What an easy way to have dinner covered for at least a couple of nights a week!

No making a list, no going to the store, no trying to decipher a complicated recipe… just cook, serve, enjoy, and get on with summer time!

Let me know if you are going to try it out 🙂

Sahvana’s Famous Chicken Hoagies

These are the EASIEST Crockpot Chicken Philly Sandwiches…

Crockpot Chicken Philly Sandwiches

Sahvana’s Famous Chicken Hoagies

My recipes are for the cooking impaired. If a dish requires more than about 5 ingredients then it will not be served in this household. I believe in letting the kiddos help. Making a meal together can create an opportunity to bond as a family. Make a mess, laugh, and enjoy. Grab your aprons and get to it!

Crockpot meals are great for letting the kids “cook” with you because you don’t have to work near heat. I cut the onion and green peppers, and let my son add it to the crockpot before I even turn it on. Since I have been letting him make dinner with me, he always volunteers to help me in the kitchen. Hopefully this will extend into his teenage years. Fingers Crossed! Haha 🙂

Sahvana's Famous Chicken Hoagies

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 4 hours, 15 minutes

Yield: 4-8 Sandwiches

Sahvana's Famous Chicken Hoagies

  • 2-4 Chicken Breasts
  • 1 Yellow Onion
  • 2 Green Peppers
  • 1-2 Tbsp McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • Package of Hoagie Buns
  • Cheese (optional)

  1. Slice the peppers and onions. Put half in the crockpot then place your chicken on top. It can be frozen or thawed. Take the other half of your sliced onion and peppers, and sprinkle them on top of the chicken. I sprinkle the Montreal Steak Seasoning on top until there is an light layer across the whole thing. Your family might like more or less depending on how spicy you want it. I go for a more mild flavor.
  2. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours or until the chicken shreds easily.
  3. I just use two forks to pull apart the chicken, and then I stir the mixture up in the crockpot.
  4. I like to toast the buns because the mixture tends to make the bread a little soggy, but it also tastes just as delicious on regular bread. (Sometimes I can't wait for toasted bread, this stuff is too yummy!)
  5. Scoop the desire amount onto your bread of choice.
  6. Add cheese if you like! Sometimes I like to put shredded mozzarella on top, but it is optional 🙂
  7. I usually serve these sandwiches with fries and/or a salad, and enjoy the yumminess!
  8. P.S. The leftovers are great to make sandwiches for lunch!
