Mom Care

Dear Moms,

Mom care is important! This is why you haven’t heard from me in a while…

Where have I been, you ask? Sleeping. Haha, no not the whole time, but at least the recommended 7-8 hours a night. It has been glorious! I seriously feel like a million bucks. I have been sleeping, and enjoying the summer with my two little loves. Oh yeah… and my husband too. Can’t forget him! He just started going out of town for work again, so we don’t get to spend as much time together as we would like. That is why my main goal has been keeping the kids busy, so that our weeks go by fast.

So, back to the question of my whereabouts…

Honestly, I have made time for sleep. I have also made time for getting on the floor type of playing with my kids, and doing fun summertime activities. The house is clean, and I’m making most meals from scratch. I am on summer break (from taking online college classes), and realized that it was for my own well being that I treat it as such. The kid’s movies have actually been funny (we just watched Angry Birds), and the aquatic center is pretty fun.

This mom is now well rested, and I actually have the patience to spend all this time with my kids! I am not stressed out, telling my 3 year old to “go play” when he keeps asking me to race him. I am not resenting my 10 month old when she wakes up early from her nap because I could have used that extra 10 minutes studying or paying bills. Oh boy, did I need this time to just enjoy my kids.

We all have stuff to do. A lot of moms (including me) want to DO IT ALL. What I want to tell you is that it is A-OK to take a break from it all once in a while for some mom care. It has really helped me be more thankful for everything. I like staying buys, don’t get me wrong. I am now getting back in business mode. Pre school is about to start for my son, and the baby will be napping a lot… and there is only so much cleaning I can do! I have missed the blog, so there will be more posts to look forward to in the coming weeks.

I hope everyone has had an awesome summer! May your transition from the long break into “back to school” be smooth, and don’t forget to squeeze the most out of the last bit of the season before fall 🙂

Thank you for reading my ramblings! Talk to you soon.

With Love,

  1. Does this apply to non-moms? I feel like all I want to do is sleep! This summer has been crazy trying to fit it all in, so I hear you on taking time for yourself…

Glad to have you back too! I might not be a mom, but your posts are awesome! (Going to buy curtain tie things that you posted about soon! Winter= craft time for this single lady 🙂

    1. Hi Jacy! This absolutely applies to non-moms! haha! Take care of yourself, and something as simple as sleeping can make a HUGE difference. At least it did for me. You should let me know how your crafts turn out! (or if you need any help or ideas) Thank you for being a loyal reader! 🙂

    1. Hope you are having an amazing summer so far. It is almost Fall! Yikes! How did that happen? Haha. yes, I know it will be a pretty sad day when the littles don’t really need me as much anymore. Thanks for reading 🙂

  2. I’m a BIG believer in mom/self care! Glad you got some much needed down time—I need some too since I’m starting to feel a little crispy. #momsmattertoo

    1. Sleep had been so great. I was so used to being tired that I forgot how I was supposed to feel. Try it out! Lol Take care of yourself mama! Thank you for reading 🙂

  3. I so need to get better at this. I wake up excited to play with my little man everyday but then I get the burnout all of a sudden. I’m glad you were able to take some time for yourself and enjoy the summer!

    1. Hi Lacey! I am glad I could give you a little reminder 🙂 You are not alone, trust me. I also have all these good intentions in the morning, and then after a while it just gets hard playing toddler/baby games. Lol Hope you are having a great summer, and thanks for reading!

    1. Hopefully slowing down to enjoy family and life will be just what you need. Being a mom is hard work, so you deserve it! 🙂

  4. Mom care is real! I find myself most productive when I get a good night’s rest. Even though technically the hours of potential productivity are shorter, the actual accomplishments are not. I’ve sat thinking on many occasions, what is the best use of time? Self rest and kid play are my most successful answers. The house is generally clean. The meals are made. The cycle of housework will repeat, endlessly. The chance to play, to imprint, to engage…will not. Here’s to finding the balance.

  5. This is so true! Mom Care is important. I am a firm believer in downtime even with being a workaholic and a single mom of 5. It’s a must! 🙂 Thanks for sharing. You’re awesome.

  6. Self care is the best hey? I love that so many moms are embracing the fact that we don’t always have to be the ‘do it all supermoms’. It gets overwhelming. I find that if I push too hard and ignore my need for a break, I’m super unpleasant and I take the time I get with my family for granted.
Thanks for reiterating the importance of mom breaks <3

    1. Amen to that! Ah yes, the grumpiness, you and me both sister! We all just need a little reminder every now and then. Thanks for reading, Marisa!

    1. Yes, I completely understand! I started blogging as a way to fight mommy burn-out, and then had blog burn out. My goal is to find a happy medium… if that is possible. Lol 😉
